Chapter 5
WHERE?
Where and when to start
“Do not wait; the time will never be “just right”. Start where you stand, and work with whatever tools you may have at your command, and better tools will be found as you go along.” – Napoleon Hill
The question before every man is, where should I start in regards to pursuing my dreams or to be and do what I would love to?
We get what we are and what we believe, not what we want. So then, we must step up to what we would love to be, and start to do the things that we would love to do, and then we will be sure to earn the things that we would love to have, right where we are. Doing this, a man will align himself with and become a vibrational match to his desire. This allows the Law of Attraction to work in his favor without investing much thought or adhering to all the new age techniques of meditation and visualization that require such a great amount of discipline and effort. “As we are, so we do; and as we do, so is it done to us”. So, we must become the source of what we seek, right where we are, and right in the now. This conduct will in turn allow us to attract the ideas, events, circumstances and people that will assist us to attain the thing we desire. This is the shortest and the most joyful creative route, and the only noble formula that would boost us into an arena of success and true abundance, and a place where excellence and freedom dwells.
I am a product of a country upbringing, raised by my grandmother in a reserve. Cattle, goats, sheep, and chickens were our dinner as well as our bank account. My grandmother was a very tidy woman, and her most pressing desire was to be in, and sleep in, a clean environment. She had all the means to feed and live luxuriously if she so wished to, but she was old-fashioned. Born in late 1922, she grew up during an era of oppression and apartheid in previously South West Africa, now named Namibia. She was a very conservative woman in her spending and conduct, as she was a product of humble beginnings. She would often remind me proudly during our late-night conversations. The only modern thing on her house was the corrugated iron roof-top and the floor that was made from concrete. The rest of the house was made of wood, cattle manure, and mud. She didn’t have a broom like the rest of the family members in the compound, but her place was always tidy. When I grew up, I realized that she had made a broom from a cow’s tail, and a feather duster from chicken feathers tied to a stick. Here was an uneducated woman who did not permit her environment to prevent her from achieving what she wanted. She wanted a clean and comfortable place to call home, and she got it.
